The FUN's For Everyone workshop has been developed by Ronnie Heath and uses an innovative approach to fulfil four main aspirations:
To:
- Engender and support the development of positive attitudes by young people towards physical activity
- Improve all pupil's core skills and confidence in PE and Sport, enabling greater access to the PE curriculum and sports specific pursuits.
- Support the identification, extension and development of gifted and talented pupils in PE and Sport.
- Provide and effective assessment for learning tool.
The team of coaches at Impact Sports Coaching will be using this training in future as the foundations for their multiskills coaching, and it has already started to be used in developing coaching sessions for Gifted and Talented students. Furthermore it is also part of their ongoing investment in the high quality coaches they work with and their commitment to offering coaches great professional development opportunities.
During the training all coaches received a resource folder and DVD showing a multitude of drills that can be adapted for use with mainstream and disability participants, and with beginner and elite athletes alike. Furthermore it gave the team an excellent insight into how, by incorporating some of the FUN's drills into sports specific coaching, they could motivate and maximise the potential of all participants.
The FUN's resources consist of a variety of colour-coded cards, each structured around a staged series of challenges that introduce, build and develop the all important core FUNdamental movement skills - balance, coordination and agility.
